MSN for mIRC now uses some OpenSSL dlls for connecting to the MSN Messenger password authentication server.

In order for MSN for mIRC to function correctly, the three dlls ssleay32.dll, libeay32.dll and msvcr71.dll must be present in the mIRC directory. MSN for mIRC will not authenticate with the MSN passport server unless these dll's are present in the mIRC root directory.

As an alternative to placing the DLL's in the mIRC directory, you can also place them in your windows system32 directory (probably c:\windows\system32) where they will also be accessible to other applications.

The dlls mentioned above are included with MSN for mIRC, and should install into the mIRC directory by default. If you wish to download the dll's, they can be downloaded from the following locations:

http://www.mircscripts.org/comments.php?cid=3109
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr70d
http://www.openssl.org/

If you wish to use the old method of password authentication, as used in MSN for mIRC 3.5, type the following into mIRC:

/set %msn.oldauth 1

Please email andy@burningimage.net if you have any problems.
